At the 3rd Annual Agrivoltaics Europe Conference, held in Vienna, Austria, DMEGC Solar's AgriPV solutions garnered significant interest from the attendees. Over the past few years, the company's AgriPV systems have facilitated remarkable projects in various European countries, including the Netherlands, France, and Spain, showcasing successful examples of integrating agricultural production with solar power generation.

Agrivoltaics is increasingly gaining attention across the European Union, providing an opportunity to simultaneously address food crop production and electricity generation while also considering soil protection and water conservation. The conference focused on the importance of agrivoltaics, the challenges it addresses, the role of farms in this field, and effective measures implemented to overcome these challenges and find practical solutions.

For crops such as fruits and berries, agrivoltaics systems can enhance yields by up to 16% because of the protective shading provided by the panels. Even for shade-sensitive crops like wheat, which may experience some yield loss, they retain at least 80% of their normal productivity. This demonstrates that agrivoltaics can effectively balance both agricultural and energy production.

Compare with competitors, DMEGC Solar Agri&Greenhouse modules are able to reach 10% more transparent area for the plants by no hurt to electricity yield, meanwhile offering more options on transparent percentages for growers located in different climate and their different plants. Optimized irradiance from its special ELS tech, higher backside gain from no white mesh at back glass are some of the other advantages that set the DMEGC solution from its peers.

Recently, SolarPower Europe released a handbook on agrivoltaics, highlighting its potential benefits, such as a 60% increase in crop yield, an 80% increase in soil carbon storage for solar grazing projects, a 20% to 30% boost in water retention for interrow and elevated PV systems, and a 60% rise in pollinator presence. The handbook also details the extra income that agripv projects can provide to farmers, primarily through land lease payments from solar developers, direct provision of agricultural infrastructure, or reductions in energy bills.

As one of the speakers and a partner of DMEGC, RWA Raiffeisen Ware Austria AG, together with the Lagerhaus Cooperatives, is the driving force for the countryside. RWA is shaping the future of the rural environment and economy – in Austria and in Central and Southeastern Europe. RWA is engaged in the areas of agriculture, building materials, home & garden, energy, and machinery, offering innovative products and services. As a strong partner in the entire agricultural production process RWA is the leader in innovation in the agricultural sector – from seeds to fertilizers and crop protection to the best possible marketing of the products.

The RWA Solar Solutions division is responsible for the renewable energy sector. RWA Solar Solutions is a full-service provider of PV solutions in combination with agriculture and the energy industry in the renewable energy sector.
